About Us
We are a family of five, with 3 lively children aged 5, 8 and 12. For several years we had been dreaming of buying a house in South of France. We started oursearch in the Languedoc Rousillon area, because the prices seamed to correspond better to our budget, but after a few unsuccessful trips there, viewing many different properties, we started to extend out search to the whole of the Mediterranean Coast.
We searched the Provence-Alpes-Cote d'Azur for 2 years making frequent trips before we found "Le Mazet de la Bresque". Unlike all the other properties we had viewed, this property was advertised by a local estate agent, and had been for sale for 3 years with 3 price reductions over the period. The property was poorly advertised with no pictures of the inside and a very brief description, stating "renovation needed". What attracted us to this property was the amount of land associated with it. A total of 4 hectares (just under 10 acres).
It was September 2013. We expected the worst, when we went for the viewing, but when we finally reached the property after carefully following the estate agent on the winding 500m track next to the river leading to the house, there was no doubt that this certainly was the dream we had been waiting for.
The kids stumbled out the car and immediately started catching grasshoppers, praying mantises and butterflies and seemed so much at peace in these beautiful surroundings.
The interior of the house wasn't at all in such a bad state as could have been expected, and although renovation work was evident, it was mostly minor surface work, such as re-painting, rather than major renovation work.
Our dream came true. On 18th December 2014 we signed the purchase agreement, and keys in hand, spend our first Christmas in the South of France. It wasn't a Christmas like any other though, but more of a working holiday painting and ripping out the old bathroom.
During the last years, we have worked both internally and externally on the house, redecorating and installing a brand-new modern bathroom and Kitchen. Outside the pool was cleaned up and a security fence built. In 2016 we completed our outdoor kitchen area.
Additionally we have been tending to the grape fields and started to build a food forest. Our dream is to create a small self-sufficient homestead. Having 4 hectares of land, of which 3 hectares is agricultural land, gives us plenty of opportunity to fulfil our dream - our dream of living in the most peaceful, clean and beautiful environment, between the Cote d'Azur beaches to the south and the Lakes and mountains to the North. We are truly situated in the very heart of if all. A true paradise....a dream come true.
